Title: Skull of a Chinook Chief from Columbia River
Description: A profile view of the bones in the skull of a native American Indian. The skull is judged to have belonged to a chief due to the quality of the coverings and the canoe it was buried with. The accompanying text contains many measurements for the skull, and a description of the characteristics of the Chinook people. The volume contains similar information and illustrations for many native races, using skulls from a variety of sources. The intention was a study of the anthropology of native races, although an appendix on phrenology is included.
